The Band |
Cerridwen is named after a famous Welsh legend (Google it, there’s tonnes of references on the web), Lynne, Andy and Laura provided three drops of inspiration for Cerridwen in early 2003. Then Karl came along at the beginning of 2006 to stir the pot.
Lynne has been singing and playing guitar for longer than she cares to remember. She has performed as a solo artiste at sessions far and wide, and over the past 20 years has appeared with several local bands. She’s a dab hand with the claves and keeper of the band’s emergency chocolate ration. (vocals, guitar, claves)
Andy is, we believe (unless of course you know different), the only electric whistle player in the country. He has been playing whistle for 15 years, has popped up at various sessions and belonged to an eclectic mix of bands, from Morris to Rock, recording several CDs along the way. (whistle, additional bodhran)
Laura first picked up a bodhran about 15 years ago, because she thought it looked ‘easy to play’! Since then she has provided bodhran on several CDs and finally plucked up the nerve to supply backing vocals on a few tracks, although her keyboard skills are purely in the Pet Shop Boys category. (bodhran, additional vocals, keyboard, claves, shaky egg, tin tray)
Karl is a relative newcomer to the folk scene. In a previous existence he was a classical singer and played guitar and bass in Jazz/Blues and then Rock’n’Roll bands before seeing the light. When he heard the melodeon in 2004 he was hooked. He’s now got five of them and is undergoing treatment for MAD (Melodeon Acquisition Disorder). (melodeon, vocals, whistle, spoons)
